Having a period on your wedding day

My period is due on the Tuesday and im getting married on the Saturday. Recently my periods have either been 1 day early or up to 4 days late. We are also trying for a baby. My problem is if my period is on time then it will be over by the time of my wedding and i can have a lovely honeymoon but if its late by even a day im ********! My doc has given me the pill to take for 3 months so I have the option of having no period but then my chance of trying for a baby has gone. I have no idea what to do for the best. Any ideas??

Not sure that I understand. If you have your periods suppressed, you can have your honeymoon with exciting unbridled sex, but will have to wait at least 3months for your peiods to re-esablish i.e you will bw fertile again.

If you want to remain fertile for those 3months, you will have the "inconvenience" of your period.

Do you want us ABers to make that decision for you?

That would be my worst nightmare, a period on my wedding day, in a white dress. Mine were quite heavy, so imagine if it came through. Doesn't bear thinking about.

If your period does come on Tuesday, by Saturday, it would almost be over. I wouldn't bother, but if it gets to two days before the wedding and no sign, then perhaps take it, just for that month. It probably isn't necessary to continue for a further 2 months, if the reason is purely to delay your period.

it dosent work like that though, does it velvetee? You can't just wait and see if it arrives then if it's late start taking the pill and expect it to delay the period.
i agree - no one can make that decision for you, but even if you did have your period, its not going to go on for all of your honeymoon is it. Plus (delicate people turn away now) having a period dosent stop you having sex. Unless your bloke is a masochist, it might stop you getting oral sex, but thats about it. On the other hand - if you feel uncomfortable waiting a measly 3 months to try for a baby, you seem a bit neurotic to me! What is it about getting pregnant you couldnt possibly wait 12 weeks?
another thought is that every time ive gone on the pill, ive had spotting for weeks - it might be the same for you. You can get a pill call norhisterone that'll delay your period for a few weeks, rather than go on combined pill

Bednobs, i didn't say wait until the period starts and then take the pill. I said if it was due on the Tuesday and then still hasn't come a couple of days before the wedding, then start the pack. This, as I recall when I was taking the pill, would delay it starting until after the pack finished.

Ask your GP for Norethisterone, smiler. It's not a contraceptive, but simply a pill that will delay your period until you stop taking it.

Watch it....norethisterone is a progestin and is a contraceptive agent, but usually combined with others in contraceptive pills.

ok so if you don't wanna go back on the pill, then why don't you just use a tampax on your wedding day?? That way you won't spend all day worring about it turning up.

and if you get a bad belly with your periods then get a heat patch to place on your tummy under your dress.

You only have 2 options from what I can see, the pill or the period showing up.

Might be an idea, to take the pill to stop your period, so yu can enjoy your wedding day and honeymoon without worry. Then try for a baby after you are married, which would probably be the best thing to do.

personally i wouldnt want a period on my wedding day. bloated stomach showing through a wedding dress and the inconvenience of carrying pads. if it was me i would carry on taking the pill untill the next month.
