Im barmy!
Been back to the doctors about the bouts of palpitations shortness of breath etc and they are stumped she even used that word. They have tried drugs which don't work and they now have drawn a blank!
She has said she might send me to a psychotherapist to try and retrain my brain, yeah good luck with that one!!
Any one else feeling as fed up and without help at the moment?

Join the club. Embrace your difference and welcome it into your life. If it is simply the physical symptoms of palpitations etc that you sufferf rom, this is stress-induced, so you need to be able to talk through with either a psychotherapist or an NLP practiitoner to establish what's upsetting you and how to control it. This might be what the GP means by 'retrain your brain'. I personally know I am completely crackers but the happy type, now. Give everything a try that the GP suggests, and hang on in there.
firewatch after your recent experiences these feelings are to be expected, or are they long term? Lots of people have palpitations without any obvious heart trouble, can be a type of panic attack symptom too. A banana a day is seemingly very good for palpitations.
We all have these awful lows and they seem more prevelant this time of year i think.
You take good care
Mamya x
also it can be a refex caused by the vagas nerve, maybe you are suffering from PVCs

Thanks mamya, yes they are long term had them nearly a year, next month to be precise.
They have not been to bad this week, was doing 130 this morning, and i was on my own! SCARY! (ok so that's tachycardia, but still it was not good)
Holding my breath tends to help it tripped it into going slower this morning, mite try the banana trick see if that helps.
The doctor was mumbling something about the vegas nerve on Thursday, not sure what she was on about will have to google it. I even asked her to shoot me im that fed up, u can guess her reaction!
have the doctors ruled out ectopic beats? they feel like a skipped heart beat, followed by fast heart rate.
I take propranolol for my palpatations 20mg 3x day and they work great xx
Bless ya, its horrible when the docs tell u everything is fine, when ur brain says no it isnt!!, remember ur not alone and try and get ur gp to try different meds till u find one that works for u.
I had cbt, cognitive behavioural therapy to try and train my brain not to panic when i have the ectopics.. it doesnt work x
take care and try not to panic as u will feel worse, easier said than done, i used to call a friend and that took my mind off my heart beat xx
Darlin you're not barmy! You're stressed and suffer from anxiety! Please don't think you're a nutter or anything! Why are your doctors drawing a blank? They're trained and paid to help people!

Do you know what's causing it? Is it something long term or short term? It could be that once it's passed, you will feel better. I hope so x

They gave a permbulatory ECG machine last year and that did not pick up on any thing major.
They have just tried propananol, and it did not work, well i had a honeymoon period and then body did not like it and it stopped working no matter the amount i was taking. The funny thing is it does do that sometimes prior to an episode and they know this, thats probably why they tried the propananol.
I still have some and will keep hold of it to give it a go, i am prepared to try anything.
my hubby had to wake me up this morning because he could not hear my heart (he lies snuggled up to my back), and it turned out to a super fast episode, im fine went back to sleep after!
Stress is one of the big factors, but it happens even when im not stressed doing the dishes etc.
I hope to find a cause for it soon its driving me to distraction and making my life unsettled. Thanks for your help!X
Hi firewatch , don't give up hun , keep plugging for answers and try what they suggest and see if either the episodes go away or yu learn to live with them . I had periods of heart beat flutter tachicardia and my gp sent me to a cardiologist . I had a 48hr mobile ECG recording and it showed several periods a day of subventricular tachicardia.
I am assured that it doesn't as yet need any treatment because my heart rights itself in good time . x

Aw BM!!!! SVT is not fun, they suggested thats what mine might be but they ruled it out!
I am learning to live with it but when a bad one at work happens it not only takes me off the main desk for ten minutes, it disrupts 2 other people as well. Which is why im keen to get it sorted.
