I beg to differ with Prescott - so far as I am aware, you can travel on a passport which was issued to you, for example, there are people who go abroad to get married and then return on the old passport. Furthermore, there are women who do not change their name when they marry (why should they). There may be an issue regarding names in certain circumstances but you are you still and if/when you divorce (60% chance, is it now ?) you might choose to revert to your real name. Provided the name given for your booking and on the passport match then there is not likely to be any complication. The passport is a legal document issued to you and unless the person is still the same (all details bar the name are up-to-date). It is not illegal in the UK to call yourself different names each day of the week unless it is to mislead, defraud, etc. - the intention has to be proven. In your case you are travelling and paying for it in full, nobody is likely to care whether you are called Minnie Mouse or whatever. Your name will matter most to you, diminishing to zero for total strangers. Note that (so far as I am aware) you are not required to get a new passport every time you move. But it is advisable to get a passport in your adjusted name for your own convenience, and at least once renewal time comes. You will need to provide documentation for this.

No need to change it to married name at all.Just don't change it after you have booked the holiday otherwise you may be subject to amendment fees.

can I just check - if a person is not going to change their passport then does that mean the holiday/honeymoon would just have to be booked in the maiden name? If they had booked in married name would they have to change their passport before travelling? thanks

Yes, you book it in the name you will keep it in. I never changed mine till it expired because they charge you.
