discomfort viewing tv

Is there any advice out there about help watching TV for an elderly person who has eye probs & dryness from detatched retinas, & cataract ops?
The brightness is the problem. He can't cope with table lamps or flickering candles either. I'm wondering maybe a particular coloured film over the screen?

There will be a way of setting brightness on the TV itself , most probably on the remote . Different makes will differ

Would he be able to use sunglasses to cut down on the brightness - the ones you can get that are not very dark. I presume he already wears glasses so they could be the clip-on type.

you could ring the Royal National Institute for the Blind. they are very helpful with all sorts of eye probs in the elderly, and may have some practical suggestions.
