Hi Folks

Forgive my appearing insensitive, but does anybody else not get the whole 'Jade Goody' thing which you cannot fail to miss given each and every time you switch on the television or turn the pages of a magazine or newspaper you find her and her now husband staring back at you ??!!

By some way of explanation ....

She DIDN'T win Big Brother ....

Her personality & apparent lack of education and common sense became MORE than apparent during her reality tv show about her opening a salon ....

She made racist comments on television and then had the audacity to visit India to declare 'I'm not a racist' ....

Her now husband was featured modelling clothing in a magazine only last week while clutching a photograph of Jade .... are we forgetting something here .... he set about someone with a golf club and is a convicted criminal .... bet the victim of that assault is delighted about the media attention their assailant is getting ....

Despite everything above, these 2 are still being heralded as some kind of folk heroes ....

I can only imagine what other terminal cancer victims are thinking, people who would have made a bigger and much better contribution to society if they'd been given the chance and who are unable to leave their family anything when they die ....

Personally, I think the 'Jade Goody Express' is obscene as is the behaviour of the media who are falling over themselves to give column inches and television time to a convicted criminal and a female who has apparently contributed very little to society ....

yes I agree with you and have never really liked her but it is always very sad when someone gets cancer, I think it is in papers because she is so young and it is bringing awareness to young girls to get smears test and its worked as more have gone to docs as ever before.

sadly though, it's what sells newspapers and magazines at the moment. It's all about money I'm afraid. And there are some out there who want to read her story.

Thanks for your answers folks .... glad I'm not the only one ....

Please don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy and I am sympathetic to her plight .... I'm much more sympathetic, however, to the cancer victims who spend their last days and weeks with their families in quiet contemplation .... they truly belong in the spotlight ....

What I am disgusted at is the media attention Jade Goody even got in the first place which thrust her into our livingrooms in the wake of Big Brother .... only for her to remain there when the media should've 'kicked her into touch' very soon after they realised the error they'd made in promoting her ....

By the way, is she donating any of the obscene amounts of money she's being paid to any cancer charities ?!

everyone is entitled to their opnion on anything under the sun, no doubt in a few weeks when she has lost her fight for life and her boys have lost their mum you will be saying 'so what', it takes all sorts to make the world and nothing surprises me in human nature. Even the lack of compassion and the disregard for other peoples suffering.

Most has gone to her family but I do hope she gives to a cancer charity to help other families that have lost someone. It is the media though you cannot blame jade as far as I am aware the wedding was her last pics

I know that Wendy Richards was aware for many months that her cancer was terminal and had no small children to worry about in the future, jace has had a matter of weeks to not only come to termns with a terminal illness, but to plan her son's future. Nothing selfish about her, nothing insincere, she's just doing her best to see them looked after when her time is up and they havn't got her to support them.

Jade got a letter say she had abnormal cells from her smear test and ignored the letter!

If she had followed it up, maybe she wouldn't be in this position.

I actually admire the girl - I don't necesarily agree with the way she's spending the last months of her life, but her motives are genuine and, love or loathe her, the predicament she is in is unbearably sad. To face a terminal diagnosis at 27 with two small children is horrific.

Jack Tweed will die his own death once Jade has gone - as in I think he will disappear as the most of the media are really not interested in Mr Thugs-R-Us.

exactly so people are being made more aware to get checked out. I;ve just looked back at the reality section january 2007 when jade was in celebrity big brother and it would seem most hated her then some that are on here now saying how sad it is, but just goes to show how some can be touched by this story

A doctors surgery near me reported more young women booking smear tests in one day than did all last month. This tells me that whether or not she is annoying people, she is creating awareness of this disease.
Also, she says she is doing all these interviews to make as much money as she can to provide for her children. If the papers/magazines are willing to pay then I don't blame her.

You've kinda hit the 'nail on the head' in mentioning Wendy Richards .... I haven't seen her on television or in magazines and the press following her being diagnosed ... and Wendy Richards does have talent and, I would venture, much more to contribute to society .... and I venture she has a family, young or not ....

I wasn't making a comparison about popularity nor talent stevie, i was saying jade has had less time to prepare to die. Can you imagine being 27 and thinking you're invincible? My son is 27, his best friend was 26 and was gone in a second.
