Swollen tummy (distended lower abdomen) whilst at desk!!
6 Answers
Does anyone else experience this when they are sat behind a desk all day? I have recently taken a job which is much more sendentary and I sit at my desk from 9-5 (except an hour at lunch) I always end up with a swollen abdomen by about 3pm. I have tried to eliminate food, and can't see a connection.

Sometimes its not until you start moving about that you feel the need to go to the loo.
If you remain concerned then a wee visit to your GP would put your mind at rest -also during your lunch hour try even a 15 min walk that might get things moving !!

Yes I experienced the same discomfort when I became a Secretary approximately 15 years ago. I went to my local Quacks (Doctors) and was given some helpful advice about eating my lunch or snacking at a desk. Basically when you sit your rib-cage leans on your abdomen which prevents your food digesting properly, so try to eat meals leaning back in your chair or preferably upright. This may help. I also found I would rush eating my food because lets face it we all multi-task.
