i had a gastric balloon inserted in Prague earlier last year, i am a nurse myself and was vigilant when watching the professionals at work there.
there is basically no difference, just make checks and do your research about the proceedure and the clinic, as with my clinic it looked a lot bettter on the website to when i actually arrived, my clinic was affiliated with the Department of Health, but be carefull with cliams that websites make, and always check the credentials of the clinician/pysician, you can check on the NMC website for nurses credentuils, you should be able to with a medical practioner through the GMC.
the staff were good, but i did have the feeling of being a conveyor belt cash-cow, they were really only interested in the money.
I left the clinic with 2 local infections where the intavenous cannula had been, but nothing serious, and was shocked to see the nurses inserting cannuals with no gloves!!!
looking back doing the proceedure in Prague saved me around 5000, but it was what you see is what you get, with no supportive help or follow up in the following monthes. I would do it again in Prague.
If you are confident with medical procedures and it doesnt entail invasive surgery, then i would consider doing it abroad, however, im not sure i would have invasive surgery requiring aneasthetic.
I hope this helps
