compensation claim

hello,my husband has recently died of the asbestos related disease Mesothelioma. Of course I have started a compensation claim which looks successful.will this affect any housing benefit that I would normally have got because of my know low income,after all it should not in my opinion be classed as savings

Seriously though, HB is calculated on a sliding scale and any savings you have will be considered if they are above �6000, this is also dependant on your age, I believe it changes if you are a pensioner. Perhaps contacting you CAB may help.

The source of your money is of no interest to the agencies - if you no longer fit the criteria, you will no longer get benefits.
