Permanant solution for facial hair removal.
5 Answers
My wife struggles to keep her top lip hair free, she is only in her 40s and I know she is unhappy with it, although I truthfully tell her it's not as bad as she thinks it is.
I would like to treat her to treatment to get rid of it permanently, or at least for a long period, but neither of us know which is the best way to do it.
Any recommendations and experiences welcome, and an idea of cost would be useful, too, although cost is not the major consideration.
TIA.

I suffer from polycystic ovaries and one of the symptoms is excess hair. It really knocks your self confidence. At one time even typing this would have me in torrents of tears.
I found this link which will answer all her questions: http://www.hairlaserremoval.co.uk/
After the first treatment I saw a noticeable improvement. I still go back every couple of months but my neck and upper lip were pretty dense with hair.
Electrolysis works but it takes years and years. None of the creams, waxing etc work - they just remove the hair until it grows back in, it might grow in slightly softer but it still comes back.
I hope she does at least try this treatment. It will hurt the first couple of times but after a while she won't even notice it.
Best wishes.

Hi Barry
I had laser hair removal last year and I thoroughly recommend it. I too have PCOS too so its not completely effective in the long term but does indeed work, you just need top up sessions every few months but even then the hair is nowhere near as dense as it is to start with.
I paid 100 per session (full lower face and neck) and theortetically you should go every 4 weeks to deal with all the follicles which are at different stages at any one point. How many times you need to go varies according to the person, perhaps 6-10 but to be honest your wife will feel like a different woman after the first 1 or 2. Its the best money I ever spent.
An important factor in how effective it will be is your wifes colouring - I am fortunate in that I have very light skin but dark hairs so they can be picked out easily. Darker skin, or fairer or redder hairs requires more power but obviously thats what the consultation is for.

I didnt find it painful - its like being tweezed - and actually found the light (you have blackout glasses) and the cold air blast (to cool the skin) more disorienting. But we're all different.
Final note - if she is thinking about it I suggest she stops using any fake tan on her face immediately and wears sun block under her make-up so they can start straight away. If she is tanned or has been in the sun they wont do it for a few weeks.
Good luck!
