ive seen babies as young as a few months with hoops in their ears, personally it makes makes me really uncomfortable. How old were you when you had yours done? at what age would you allow your child to have them done? I was 3 years old when i had mine done. i wont get my daughters done until shes old enough to ask for them.

I think I was about 12.

My daughter was about 8 but she bugged and bugged me.

I let her get her belly done at 13. I had my belly done at about 20.

I am the same as Mamma, I had mine done at 16 and only my ears.

I hate seeing babies with pierced ears I don't think it is right.

oooh someone was watching GMTV. lol I wouldnt 'allow' my child to have them done at any age. it would be entirely down to them it is so wrong for a parent to pierce their babys ears when they have no say in the matter.

I was 13. I also don't like earrings on young children. I believe that it is something that the child should ask for and be old enough to care for. It is not a parent's place to pierce the ears of a child without his/her consent.

I was 13/14 I think when I had mine done, I have now, 4 holes in each ear but very rarely wear any jewellary. I don't like it, wouldn't let my kids no matter how much they begged me. Think it looks terrible on babies.

I'm not sure how old I was, all I know is that I kept asking for them done and when my mum took me I chickened out everytime. I finally had them done, I was maybe 8 or somehting like that.

I would not allow my cjild to have them done until they ask for them and I think they are ready.

Why would you pierce a childs ears when they are too little to understand I just don't get it. It takes away all their innocence.

think i was about 5 when i had mine done. But got them done again at 13 and then again at 16.
My daughter is 9 and asked to have hers done last year. I allowed her to after informing her that it would hurt!!!
I agree that they should only be done if the child requests it and never because the parent wants their child to have earrings. Saw a little boy of about 9 months old having one ear pierced recently!! Ridiculous

I was 12 and then I got them done again when I was 14 - very hip in the late 70's early 80's!

As for my kids, I have boys and I hate to see boys with their ears pierced even more than little girls, so if they want them done, they will have to wait until they move out!

I plagued my mum to let me have it done but she refused, then when I was sixteen I went ahead anyway. They bled and hurt and even now 40 years later if I leave earrings out they get all sticky and sore after a few days so I have to leave sleepers in all the time. I would never have it done again.

I detest the sight of babies and toddlers with earrings in. It looks horrible and Chavvy and I can't understand why you'd willingly inflict pain on them just to have them looking cool (?). I admit, I know the pain is fleeting whilsti t's being done, but still....

My eldest daughter was round about 13/14 when I finally relented and let her have them done. My youngest is 4, and no, she's not had them done, and won't be doing for years, providing she asks for them to be done at all of course.

i didn't have mine done until I was in my 20's. My daughter started nagging for the when she was about 8 and I finally gave in when she was 12 but even then I only let her wear studs until she left school.

I was 12. I absolutely hate seeing young children with piercings. Even worse on little babies.

What a awfull thing to inflict pain on a baby by piercing their ears. Its some sort of fashion statement for these young girls to have their belly buttons pierced. I know of a 9 year old with a belly piercing looks ridiculous. Think i was about 16 when i had my ears pierced and my daughter had hers done round about the same age.
