In my area we have an "exercise referral scheme" which means effectively the doctor can "prescribe" a course of exercise. You have a session with a personal trainer who works out whats best for you, then you can go for a defined amount of times for 1.50 each session
as you well know squad, not all types of diabetes are the persons "fault" or owing to their lifestyle, as you seem to be implying.
If you are working in the NHS you probably also know that there is a big prevention agenda at the moment. Perhaps the tax payer paying for someone to lose weight prevents the bigger cost of, for example, stroke rehab, later in life?

well people i'm not scrounging i have type 1 diabetes which isn't a lifestyle inflicted disease as many people think i have been in hospital for many weeks and have have been recovering at home for 4 months i have gone from a healthy 10st 1/2 lb to 6st 8lbs I have always worked my position at work is still open but they are only paying me sick pay so if i could manage to build myself up fingers crossed i can get back to work asap and would not need a perscription then to go to the gym i would be signed back to work and pay.
