I noticed in my local health food shop, the 'yakult' type tablets were kept in the fridge. They were less expensive in Holland and Barrett, and I didn't need to put them inthe fridge until after they were opened. It said on the label that heat kills the bacteria. But what if, before they were opened, they had been stored in a hot place ?

You should always keep it in the fridge. The staff at H & B should have told you that as they will become ineffective if not refridgerated. I used to be a manager for H & B and would kill my staff if they had not told you that.

They said at H&B that they needed to be in the fridge after opening. I couldn't understand and still can't, why they weren't in the fridge when I bought them. The guy said the bacteria escapes when they the pack was opened !
