Sorry to read your going through IBS symptoms and 'rolling eye' doctors.
I did read your last thread and Sqad was right to ask if you'd been sent for tests for colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy/barium follow through/barium enema etc.
You didn't say whether you had weight loss unexplained... blood in stools? fat floating in the toilet pan? etc....
I'm posting this for you to read, not in the slightest to alarm you but to be aware that mistakes do happen with non investigative diagnoses attitudes.

I do hope in your case it is just IBS and can be sorted with diet.
Good Luck!!!

no. Not bole ax to the thread sqad, it is an item worth reading. It gives what happened and the mans symptoms and a stark warning.
If Jonah is losing weight, blood in the toilet etc then I would hope it was mentioned to either GPs. If that is then ignored, then you start to bang on.
Why should Jonah have to fork out for private investigations????

Unfortunately I have to agree sqad.
My daughter suffers daily and intermittently quite badly from IBS. Her GP has suggested no investigations whatsoever - I know she's only 24, but I feel she does need as definitive a diagnosis as is possible.
She however is reluctant to press for any investigations because of the "embarrassment". Oh, these young 'uns eh?

I read the thread luxury ... An altho it scared living daylights out of me .. I no ur sentiment was there :) it's true u can't b too carefull.. If it got too bad I'll see the doc again I'm irratated that the doctor made me feel I was wasting his time puts u off going again ... I coundnt afford to go private sqad but I'll give it till Monday if it's the same I will push for more tests.. Thanks guys :) x
Hi sqad, I do understand your passion lol I agree the NHS is a gamble :/
Jonah, if you are worried that the dx by the gp is not right, then go back and ask to be referred to a gastroenterologist as you are worried that a diagnosis has been made without investigation.
You have every right to peace of mind.
btw.... those tests???? I'm wincing at the memories!!!! xxx

salla ..if I was a GP it would p1ss me off if somebody came into the surgery armed with a website for my perusal.
Surely the GP should be one step ahead of rhe game, even if it was via a website.
You know salla this would never happen in any other country or health service and I bet a private consultation would bring forth a barrage of investigations.

I do 'speak' to a lot of Americans in my situation, and although you get what you pay for??? their insurance companies fight all the way and hold up proceedings that way.
Have a read of a site called Daily Strength...
Here's a site I have used to rate my 'up her own butt' gp lol

Hi Jonah,
My doctors told me I had IBS also. IBS always seems to be the doctors cop out.
I am not entirely sure what symptons you have apart from the stomach pains but I, like, you was losing weight rapidly over a shorty space of time, passing stools at least 2-3 times a day (unusal for me) and suffered with a constant belly ache accompanied by a dull pain near one of my ovaries. I saw 2 doctors from the same surgery, and the hospital did blood tests x2, gave urine samples, had a vaginal transcan (in case anything was wrong with my ovaries/womb), an ultrasound (in case there was a problem with my stomach/lungs - to rule out everything). I pressed the doctors, seriously, I was there every week for about 3 months. I had a stool test for the second time and they found something called hekicobacter (hplori) some form of stomach bacteria. A course of 930mg x 3 a day for 5 days soon cleared the problem.
I know what is it like when your worried about something and you don't know what it is but sod the 'rolling eyes' of the doctor and persist they give you a full MOT. Good luck :)
