The origin of many diseases can only be traced back as far as certain animals. Where they got them, know one knows. It shouldn't matter where it originated, all the matters is preventing it from spreading any further.
i think it's important to understand where it originated from as the associated information could well help towards a cure - And that's far better than stopping the spread.
And we live in a blame-culture world where witch-hunts are common place. We need to find the source and then persecute it!!! (joke)
