An old friend is recovering from shingles but is worried about a swelling over the place where the spots were. The doc says the swelling has nothing to do with the shingles, which seems a bit hard to believe. The area is also close to the spleen and kidneys, so now my friend thinks he may have something wrong with them. Can anyone confirm what this swelling could be? I think it is the body's way of protecting the sore area.
Shingles is often, well not unusually, the presenting symptom of underling disease.
I agree with the Dr. that the swelling has nothing to do with the shingles directly.
However the swelling over the spleen and kidney are (left side of abdomen) needs explaining e.g could it be an enlarged spleen?
