My Hair smells like GARLIC!

Hello, I was just wondering if ANYONE knows what to do.  I was told by a hair stylist to add a quarter cup of olive oil to my regular conditioner and put it in my hair for a few hours. (makes your hair very healthy) BUT when I took the plastic cover off of my hair a few hours later I realized I used my GARLIC olive oil.  I have washed my hair MANY times, put every cleaner in my hair. (that I knew wouldn't ruin it)  Does ANYONE know what to do.  My hair smells VERY BAD.

I feel sorry for you Terese, I did the same thing years ago with malt vinegar and ended up smelling like a chip shop for days. Try a good shampoo for greasy hair and mix it 70/30 with lemon juice, and if youv'e got any, 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint or tea tree oil. Keep your eyes tight shut give your hair a thorough shampoo, you might not get much of a lather but use lots and comb it through. It'll make your scalp sting but wont do you any harm. Rinse thoroughly and condition as usual. Good Luck!

I have to admit that your story did make me laugh a lot -- but really I do see your problem and sympathise with it.

 

I find this works well for getting oil off the hands really thoroughly, when detergents and soaps do not work well enough.  I think it'd work on hair, and anyway it wouldn't do any harm...  I use it for things like the really persistent chicken-fat smell you get from gutting hens.

 

"Wash" your (dry) hair thoroughly with another nice neutral oil such as sunflower.  This will mix with the traces of olive oil and dilute it.  Then wash again with shampoo --you'll probably need to do this at least twice to get the oil out.  (With hands I use detergent followed by soap.)

Sorry, but I found this one extremely funny but I do feel for you.  I find that rubbing salt on my hands till it's dissolved after chopping garlic gets rid of the smell very well. I don't know if this will work with hair though but if all the above suggestions don't work maybe give it a try.

it will go in time,but until then you could always get a job in an italian restaurant.sorry "im taking the micky.i love the smell of garlic-its quite a turn on.but it will fade.

Go to ur local swim pool and just soak ur hair in the water for an hour while u swim..... I used to work in an abbatoir and it was the only thing that got the "whiff" off my hands!!!!

Oh dear.........  What about neat lemon juice, that may help to neuatralise the smell?  Oh yeah, and also read the label properly next time!!!!   xx

Oh you silly thing, made me laugh for a good 5 mins, i could just imagine my dozzy mate doing something like this and looking rahter dumb founded afterwards. Sorry i'm bein a ****** i dont have any suggestions other than the ones already out up here. LMAO!!!!
