My brother has a brain tumour but couldnt have it removed because of where it is, and he is certaintly paying for it now. They shrunk it though.

I sometimes think half of any brains on here've been removed Leila!
Anyway, to be serious, I know someone who had a brain tumour. It was a very frightening experience for him, but it was removed, and he's made an excellent recovery.

and I regret to say I knew someone who had one removed, and he was not. First he knew about it was a tingle in the leg; it was diagnosed next day, but still too late.

Hello there Steve. Glad to hear about your wife's friend, but sorry for those who aren't/weren't so lucky.
I think it depends on where the tumour's located, and if it can be caught and treated early enough. The person I mentioned myself had a large tumour taken away, but he's now back at work. The only side effect is that his hands've grown somewhat larger than they used to be - I've no idea why - but it's a small price to pay for your life.
If Leila or someone close to her's been diagnosed with the condition, there are plenty of nice people on this site who're always there to listen and perhaps offer constructive advice.

My friend's step daughter had one removed around 8 weeks ago - she is now undergoing radiotherapy. She is only 30 years old. Her tumour was at the front of her head, there was a main body to it with spider like feelers coming off it. They removed the main body but the radiotherapy is too kill of the tumour that still remains.

worst thing you can do is ask a general question about a specific problem
I understand you are looking for reassurance but it's such a wide open question

people die, people survive ...

I've had a couple of heart attacks ... I know (knew) people who only had one.

I hope your case turns out well ... but please don't make a judgement or build your expectations based on a couple of experiences posted on a bulletin board

the doctor will have an idea what the chances are - based on many examples - and even so there are never any guarantees.

they tend to be vague because they don't know ... and also because the placebo effect can work against as well as for.

best thing is stay positive

to all who answered to leila question thank you but could you post to me as it is me asking the question it is my brother in law we only know he has the tumor to be removed soon only found out last week and do not know to much about it yet thank you for some helpfull answers

i had a brain tumour removed 14 years ago ,had very bad headaches and ended up collapsing , i still get bad headaches but tumour is gone, hope everything goes ok for you

Well although my brother's tumour couldnt be removed because of where it is, there are 1000s of people who have tumours removed and make a full recoveries.

It is hard to say too much because it completely depends on where the tumour is, how big it is etc..but with the technology they have these days, you will be surprised what they do.

My brother went to the brain unit in Fazakerly in Liverpool, they inserted a radioactive chip into the tumour, left it in for a month then took it back out. The tumour shrank and has never grown since.

So all the best for your brother in law, but as I said, they do amazing things these days!
