It's a slight surprise to me, I always thought his big managerial ambition, apart from Man U, would have been Newcastle. Is he liable to be welcomed by the Mackems?

Seems to me a bit like Graeme Souness taking over at Celtic!

The last Ex-Newcastle fanatic we had won the FA Cup for us and has his Statue outside the Stadium of Light so give the guy a chance.
With his experience of Championship football it could be Sunderland are planning for the future
vauny, Go away and drown your sorrows with a bottle of "Newcastle DOWN Ale" if you can't say anything constructive.
Tis a strange one as he is a boyhood Toon fan but it seems his freakish over achievements at Wigan have seduced the Mackems
As I said,give the guy a chance.
shocking appointment...we got Allardyce former MAckem as manager and he was crap on purpose im sure...hopefully Bruce will return the favor
OK then, how's this for something constructive ?
He's a handy manager to have if a side aspires for mediocrity ! Prepare for renewed derby games in season 2010-11 .
But obviously not in the Premier Division !
