I had a fantastic break - Brighton, Chichester, Itchenor, Cowes, Yarmouth & Freshwater Bay. There was an Old Gaffer's 50th anniversary rally in Yarmouth - lots of live music, festivities & dancing (yes - I got up on the table giving it some to Rolling Stones' numbers. Again.) And with the sunshine thrown in - all in all a good time was had by all. Plus - one big bonus; I have returned with no injuries whatsoever - no holes in ring fingers, no scalds, no near-drownings. Result.

ummm...I think I probably deserved it.........women, labour babies etc..not my speciality, but basically her waters had broken and she was asking if she was in labour and I replied "Does it matter?" meaning does it matter that your waters have broken as it is not an indication of onset of labour.
Anyway,,,this poster, gave my a mouthful.......LOL

You were lucky you weren't given a mouthful of placental fluid....
Old Gaffers indeed... there were some very fine specimens of young gaffers there also... And they can all do a very acceptable Irish Jig. There was a fantastic caribbean steel band. I had a go at the limbo,,,,, how I wish I hadn't. Not a good look at my age to be stuck in that unflattering position for so long. Plaid walked off....

Oh dear, it was a week ago & 'some woman' is still on your mind Sqad? Well asking a woman who was worried that she was in premature labour whether it mattered beggared belief ...it wasn't the first time you'd given the 'no big deal' type reply to a problem that was a very big deal to the person concerned.
Some of us don't like seeing people's genuine concerns & experiences being belittled.

I must admit sqad, I do have to agree with Robinia. A women in labour, especially if it's her first (which I'm assuming it is as I didn;t read the thread), is very vulnerable, anxious and wants reassurance & help. "Does it matter" indeed.... what are you like man? Hold your head in shame. ;-( You would have been a very reassuring partner at a birthing bedside wouldn't you?!!! You'd be the sort that sneaked off for a KFC, the daily telegraph & a crafty kip.
