I also know I am not to blame for his actions and even though he can be horrible to me it is not really personal and it is his problem not mine.
Also just by not beating myself up for allowing him to treat bad helps. Domestic abuse (if thats what it was) happens to a wide variety of people ( I used to think it was just weak, stupid people) but it can happen to anyone even the most intelligent so that helps too.
