hyperhydrosis ruining my life.
5 Answers
In November 2008 I was told i probably had hyperhydrosis by my doctor. She gave my a slip to hand in at a clinic where i would have a blood test. I lost the slip and never went for the blood test. Next week I have a concert to perform in where I have to wear grey thin trousers and a black shirt. I am really worried about the large sweat patches I get on the back of my legs and round my bum. (Also behind my knees on my back, front and obviousley my armpits).
I went to see my sisters school play last week and although noone else around me was, i was sweating heavily and I was bright red. That was probably one of the most embaressing nights of my life and I cried when I got home.
I avoid as many social situations due to this problem and it really brings me down:(
I've already been given two treatments both of which dont work (perspireX and driclor) I use mitchum deoderant usually which just prevents odour but not the patches. Im not worried about odour as it never seems to smell but I am really really concious about the huge damp patches all over me mostly by my bum.
If there is anything at all i can do to help this before the concert on thursday please could you help. thanks alot its really appreciated.

Make sure they are not synthetic as that will make things worse.
You may well find that at least some of the moisture by your bottom, is coming from perspiration on your back/round your waist, that runs down and collects. If so, then as a temporary fix for the night, look at getting some cotton wool roll, and slipping it inside the top of the leggings to hold it in place. This should aborb some of the excess.
Also have a look at getting some bamboo clothing and under clothes. It wicks away moisture very well- better than cotton, and may be helpful for you.

Alpha, you really need to get back to your GP for help and advice, particularly as it is affecting your confidence.
As a practical suggestion for thursday could you take a long loose overshirt with you (one that comes to mid thigh or knee length for example), to cover up as soon as the performance ends. Perhaps if you had something in a floaty print it might not be noticable
Good luck and dont let it rule your life.
