Heat problems
39 Answers
I had to come home early today because I nearly passed out at work. I was fine this morning and then about 10am I started to feel light-headed and dizzy. There is no air-conditioning at work and the thermometer on the wall said 30degs cent. The Accommodation Unit won't let us open any windows as someone jumped from the 18 floor window over 10 years ago and it is prohibited.
I feel for anyone who is a manual/physical worker. How are you all coping with the heat?
Yes I know I'm moaning again but I enjoy a good moan and its what I do best.

Accommodation Unit deal with the upkeep of the building. We have this thing called climate control which is supposed to keep everything cool in summer and keep the building warm in winter. It doesn't work surprise surprise! The thing is if the temperature goes below 16c in winter then we would have to be sent home, however there is no maximum or limit to temperature being high under H&S guidelines.
The whole building is a mess.

a fan is very cheap to buy
under a tenner
as long as youre drinking plenty of water then theres no reason that you should faint
lets face it milions of britains pay a fortumne to walk in far higher temps than that and dont faint.
drink water take a fan if need be
and eat properly too.
its a short heatwave
thats all

daffy...i disagree.
We have ceiling fans and AC units.
You feel hot because there is a layer of persperation covering your body. The fan cause this layer to evaporate, making you feel cooler although the air temperature remains the same.
tigger needs to complain to her M.P those working conditons are more like Alec Guinees in the sweat box in Bridge over the River Kwai..........totally ridiculous.
