Keep the area clean and don't mess with the piercing too much. That's about it really :)
It will heal when it heals and there isn't much that can be done to hurry the process along.

i was asking around and someone mensioned salt water...a good idea?

Salt water is a fairly good antiseptic solution, make sure you use boiled water-cool it first though as you don't want to be applying boiling water to your skin :)
You could also try spray on Savlon lotion but be careful it doesn't get in your eyes or mouth.

nice one, thank you very much, you see i'm off to spain and atm i have a huge stud in my nose as it could fit in the piercing gun, however it is quite big and i only wanted a smaller or delicate stud, could i change it now as i dont want a really big hole...
There are some really good websites to buy body jewellery, the best nose studs are the ones with the bent rod that goes through your nose, you don't want an ear stud with a butterfly back on it! Don't go for the hinged studs either, they hurt to put in and take out.
Have a look here:

Sorry, forgot to say,YES you can change it now if you like but be sure to put in a sterile stud and make sure your hands are clean first(preferably use an anti-bacterial hand gel)

ok thats cool thank you, i tried to change it last night and errr....didnt go so well lol.
i got the bent stud and its much smaller which i'm happy with and it was cleaned before, i'll give it another go 2nyt. thank you so much for your help. oh one more thing, if i'm swimming the bent nose stud wont come out will it?
Question Author
oh further more, as the wound is sort of still healing do i need to continue using a surgical steel stud? (excuse the spelling there of surgical if its not right :))
Dab the area with Witchhazel, which helps with the healing. You can get if from any good chemist. It was recommended by the jeweller, and does help speeding things up.
You had it done by a gun?? That will make a huge hole and will never close up when you are older. I had mine done with a needle and a tiny tiny stud
Question Author
witchhazel eh? alright i'll give it a go, ta very much x

does this mean she'll sound like a whoopee cushion when she blows her nose?
If she changes to a smaller stud now the hole should be less noticeable.
Yes you can go swimming with the smaller stud in without it coming out,I did all sorts with mine in when I had my nose pierced and the only time it ever came out was when I took it out myself. You don't need to stick with surgical steel but I would recommend you either use that or titanium until the healing is complete, then you can change to gold or whatever you like :)
not if she holds the tissue over the hole :-)
Hey Lumination,
It is actually illegal to pierce a nose with a gun these days :(

Mine took almost a year before it was properly healed, all my others have been much quicker.

Just keep your eye on it, I have used savlon on a cotton bud to aid healing.

thank you everyone this has really helped!
It's not illegal to pierce anyone over 18 - if they have consented. The same applies to piercing ears as any other piercings.

Without consent its considered gbh offence - be warned when you have babes ears pierced & things go wrong needing NHS treatment.

Tamborine, banjobabe was saying that it is illegal to pierce NOSES with a piercing GUN.
After a quick Google though I think she may be wrong, there doesn't appear to be any UK law which states that a piercing gun cannot be used in any type of piercing.
