broke into my son's mates car at Robin park whilst they were at footie practise in the dome and stole my son's new mobile out of the glove compartment. I've phoned orange and given them the details of the phone and they can now block the phone so that noone can unblock it without it showing up as stolen BUT they were unable to auto-detonate it to make doubly sure, but the lady said it was a good idea. is this right, it's a samsung phone, can they really permanently barr it and make it useless just using technology?

I think they block it through the handset's IMEI number...
Question Author
hi snags, the lady at orange didn't ask us for that, she only asked for the mobile number, would she be able to tell the phone imei number from when it was bought (which was only 8 weeks ago grrr)
Oh my god beware folks the weetch has got her talons out again.

Allo vera my little duk ow are you?

I hope that I have nor broken your heart to much with me duckie comoig back to me
Oh dear typos again.

What must you think of me dame Vera
''they can now block the phone so that noone can unblock it without it showing up as stolen''

If they say they can do that ^ then it must be through the handset's unique/individual IMEI number...

How can you get your dander up with a baldie? Sorry to say this, but that's the way things go. Most men would prefer to lie with women who have hair.
Question Author
yeah that's what they said and the orange site says the same, it just struck me as odd that they didn;t ask for the imei and i was faffin about so much with the numbers i didn;t think to ask.
Well anyway, if it means noone else can get to use it it's great. thanks snags
''yeah that's what they said and the orange site says the same''

'believe' them then!

Its not in 'their' interest to bullsh!t 'you' is it?
they want their fckin fingers cutting off..................
Question Author
oK i shall believe them, I would just like to be 100% sure that they have done it right, I'll have to trust they have. No way of knowing if some techie guy on a market stall hasn't been able to bypass orange technology though snags : 0
Does it matter? Your son won't be liable for any call charges as Orange are aware the handset has been stolen and they've blocked your son's SIM...
Can you call me a troll ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ and do that as when I'M gone it will look like you will be calling yourself a troll.

Lol you aint sussed that out yet have you potty
Question Author
Yes but my son only bought it a few weeks ago and now has to spend his money on another cos my house insurance excess is more than he paid for the phone!
Snags this post by haukes is just for attention as per normal.

My god I know that you are a little slow on here but are you the last one to suss her out
That has nothing to do with what we've been talking about up there...

...he lost his phone for whatever reason... and now Orange have done their thing, no one else can use it.

Get on ebay for another handset and move on :-)
knobs... p!ss off...

Lies lies and more lies.

You are just attention seeking again
dot make sure they block it with the imei, otherwise they can still use the phone with another sim and buy chargers so they get the pleasure of using their ill-gotten gains.
