My 15 (will be 16 in less than a month) year old is bugging me to get her belly button pierced. She says she only wants it for holidays not to parade around at home. She is actually generally a good kid who dresses nicely, doesn't go too far off the radar, has a good sense of humour (rare in a teenager) and she talks to me about most things. Any ideas ?

Why not peri I says yes but don't take any notice of me as I am into pvc and glad to see that you made it out of the green name to the grey name.

That is very rare on here nowdays
The right answer is NO.

The pragmatic answer is YES.

I am a pragmatist.
if it is only being done to display a pretty belly button wing as a fashion accessory then as long as the piercing is done professionally and she is old enoughy that's fine. If she intends becoming a pierced goth or whatever it is then it's not fine IMO!

I made it through the rain PVC - it's one thing getting me to agree and then there's her dad -
*ring not wing lol
Bin im
go with the flow peri.awkward age.
I let my daughter get hers done at 13. I've had mine in for 16 years now without a problem.

You have to look at it simply. It's only a little hole in the skin that won't be seen if she decides to take it out.
ummmm...you have had your's done?....you are turning me on!!!!!
My daughter, now 20, had her's done a few years back and she's also had her tongue pierced.

I advised against both as earrings are my limit - but she's looked after them and has had no infection or any other problem.

I am usually a pragmatist too and she is not the type to start getting piercings everywhere her ears are only pierced once and she rarely wears earrings. What is legal age. And give me am argument my husband (being a typical black and White no grey areas) man can't argue with
Its only her button peri it could have been worse lol
It's an offence (GBH) to pierce anyone under 18 without a waiver being signed by a guardian. Piercers/tattooists are unable to be insured. Very hard to prove that the needles are new/clean.

Easy & quick way to get hepatitis.
Nose pierced, ears pierced, navel pierced, tongue pierced, nipples pierced, ..............we at one time would look at the pictures of Bantu women and laugh...........now we have them as daughters.

What's the chance of infection with belly button is it more than the ears. she wouldn't get it done unless we said yes

LOL sqad. Now tango has worried me
hey,

I'd probably say yes. I'd be impressed that she'd asked me. I didnt ask, my mum when i was 15. I think its important to seem flexible and relaxed, so when/if she has bigger problems she knows you are approchable.

re the hubby bit, i would warn her it wont be easy convincing him, but that you'd do your best. See if you can compromise with your hubby, maybe you could persuade him to say yes, i'd work with the fact that she's 16 soon, maybe wait till then?

good luck

Sorry tambo
I didn't get any infection at all. Same with my daughter. It was rec for a couple of days but healed really well. I really don't think it's a big deal.

My daughter got her lip pierced which I wasn't keen on. I drew the line when she mentioned getting her tongue pierced.
