Hi, I'm 38+2 & over the last few days I've experienced an increase in discharge, servere lower back pain, diarrhea & an increase of Braxton Hicks. Could this be a possible sign of early labour?

could be!

If your having severe pain though you probably ought to get in touch with your MW, could be something simple like baby dropping/pressing on a nerve, but best to get some proffesional advice.

:)

it probably is signs that your body is getting ready for labour, although early labour isnt actually named after 37weeks pregnant i think hun.

I'd ring your local midwifes and speak to them if your at all concerned
discharge - could be plug coming away or just hormonal. Plug can still come away weeks before labour.

back pain - does it come in waves or is it constant? if you can time it it may be contractions, if constant could be because baby very low and engaged - again baby engaging can still be weeks before arrival.

Braxton hicks - unless theres a pattern and they are increasing in strength it may still just be practice.

as for the change in bowels that may be body clearing out in readiness of birth.

Call your midwife if concerned or your maternity ward.

Thank you all. I've been 3/5's engaged for 4 weeks now & the midwife said any lower & I'll be in labour.. This comment of course has made me paranoid. However, back is constantly painful, I've another app Fri so I'll quiz them then. Thanks again.
is this your first? i cant see how lower would mean you are in labour if first, i was fully engaged for 5 weeks with my first.

the niggles may just be because baby is now fully engaged.
