does anyone suffer from it?

i have lately been getting a sudden slash of pain or a stabbing feeling, very intense and quick on the right side of my head (lasts 2-3 secs). tonight it seems to be worse (more frequent 3-4 mins inbetween or 10mins).

i have been getting this for many years now but never took much notice, cos i would only get it once twice a week. now im getting worried, cos its more frequent now . so i typed the symptons on google and its actually called 'ice pick headaches' and there is no cure.

its really bugging me, i dont want to see my gp -cos im scared that it might something else, please put my mind at rest that this symptom is normal ... :(

Seems like Google have answered your question, just take a couple of pain killers every four hours, like parecetomol.
It is NOT a brain tumour.
WhiteBears - I know you say you dont want to see your GP - but surely anything sufficiently out of the ordinary that you feel you have to post here should be worthy of a visit to a GP?

Depending on their assessment, they may well be able to proscribe you some medication that will help - surely, given the frequency of the headaches, that must be worth trying?
