How do the NHS dentist payments work? I know that there are 3 bands of payments, but say if you need 3 teeth extracted...is that 1x payment for each teeth?

You pay a single charge for all treatment carried out during that 'course of treatment'.

The most complex of those treatments will determine which payment band you fall into. For example, an extraction is band 2. (3 x extractions will mean a single band 2 payment)

Hope this makes sense!
It comes under the 46 band, maybe a few pence less. I paid mine yesterday. The next band is when you need crowns. There is a site to go on or a leaflet in surgery.
If you are suffering with toothache may I recommend `Orajel` as I have just this last hour bought some because it will be three weeks before I can get four lower front teeth pulled at the hospital. Having just used it my tongue, lips, and mouth are numb, but no toothache.

Thanks to all for answers. So to remove 3 teeth it would cost 46 as it would fall under Band B. Thats much better than being charged per tooth. Its convenient to have as much done as possible then for every visit to the dentist.
Details here.

Three extractions at or about the same time come under the clause that says if you require further treatment within two months that comes into the same charging band, then you won't pay extra.
