I need to get away. Lost my job and it's my last day today, finished with my boyfriend of five years yesterday. I just feel like I want to disappear for a few months. Has anyone got any ideas I could do/where i could go?

Yes; travel, volunteer - combine the two even. I was in a similar situation about six years ago, no job and jilted by fiance. I went to South America and have never regretted it. I used the Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree forum to post a message asking for fellow travellers who were interested in going to the Rio Carnival. Try to see your situation as a positive one, you might make decisions/go places over the next few months that will shape the course of your life in a wonderful way. Countries like Peru and Bolivia are always happy to take on willing European volunteers, in animal sanctuaries, schools for disabled children etc...
Look at it as the perfect opportunity for a fresh start and a brand new beginning for you !!
3 years ago I fled domestic violence, lost my house, my job, everything I owned.
Looking back now, I am so grateful I was given the opportunity to re build my life as I have done.
You can do all the things you really wanted too now x
Good luck !!! xx

Looking at Naomicorlett's answer, a work colleague is about to take a break somewhere similar (may even be the same place). He's single and has been on one of these breaks before. This time he's paying 50 for something like a week's break, full board, and he says the food is brilliant - all really good, home-cooked stuff, and plenty of it.
Plus, he says, it's good company and you get all sorts of helpful advice and tuition from the organisers.
