i have been on thyroxine for a few months now and had a blood test about 5 weeks ago and the doc said i'm just bordering on the over active now but to wait until my next blood test at the end of sept before they decide whether to lower the dose, but my question is ( which i should have ask the doc but did'nt think of it until i came out of there) while i am still taking the tabs until the end of sept surely it will be going more and more toward the overactive side,

Nothing much is going to happen to your thyroid in 3 weeks......don't worry.

Ask you Dr. for the result of your T.S.H
P.S If your TSH is high, then you must raise the dose of your thyroxine.
If your TSH is low, you must lower the dose of your thyroxine.

the doc mentioned the figures 25 and should be 21 or something like that, i did think of just taking one every other day until my next blood test
Those results don't make sense to me.

Do NOT change you dose of thyroxine before your next test.
Hi fruit,
how are you feeling at the moment? Please just do what the doctor said, you shouldn't mess with thyroxine. If you are borderline, it may settle down!
Evening sqad!
Question Author
thanks Sqad for your help, maybe i just misheard her when she gave me the figures, i'll wait till i go back at the end of sept and write down this time what i need to ask her.
Your TSH should be between 0.27 - 4.20 uM/L.

I hope this may be of some help if you ask for your results.

Hi Sachs, i'm feeling ok thanks for asking, just seem as though i have a bit more energy than usual, have'nt felt like thiis for a long time.
they could possibly be referring to your t4 results. as "normal" falls between 12.9-20.0 or something similar, it would suggest that you are on the hyper end of things (over 20.0), you can get a printout of your results if you ask. they can also explain things for you.
Can you send some my way fruit! I had mine adjusted & need to go back for another blood test! In fact I'm overdue! I've had a note put on my repeat to go & get it done. You just get panicked they're going to reduce it more. I need all the energy I can get. Sometimes I've bought red bull when I've felt really drained but it's not good I suppose x
sachs...good evening.
Question Author

ooops!!
fruit...LOL No big deal.
I've been on Thyroxine since 1987 and not had any problems, I did have it adjusted after a year but been the same now ever since. I do forget to take it though, alot! I'm an idiot. : ( You'll get used to the habit FS, give your system time to adjust.
Question Author
i tend to leave it beside my bed in one of those weekly pill boxes, and as i always take a glass of water up to bed with me i take it just before i get up in the mornings. if i did'nt i think i would tend to forget it as well Dot
same as me fruity - I have mine on the bedside cabinet in a daily pill box - I take 100mg on one day and then 75mg the other - its taken 4 years to get this dosage right after my thyroid operation.
