Hi all, am almost 31 weeks now (I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is going! Maybe its because I have a toddler to look after this time round) I am having an elective section so know I have no more than 8 weeks to go. But obviously there is always a possibility of early labour - so when did you pack your hospital bag? Also last time I took a suitcase cos I had so much stuff! Am I the only one?? Am paranoid about hygiene (last time there were earwigs in the showers n my room wasn't cleaned in the 4 days I was in the hospital) so any advice on this score would be appreciated - cheers x

Pack it now if it makes you feel better. You don't need most of the stuff so you may as well put it in a bag and tick it off your list. Then if you do go into early labour you'll only have a few things to pack.
Don't forget to pack the ready mixed gin and tonic!!
And keep the father away from the gas and air!

The one time I was really organised and packed my bags weeks before I was going to need it I ended up having the baby in the kitchen. Last time I had to have a section because I was having twins so I knew I would be in for a couple of days so I took loads of stuff - I even took my pillows with me so that I would be able to get nice and comfy.
hello i was just thinking about starting to get my bag packed, im 30 weeks this sat, and im having a elective section too, cant believe how quick my pregnancy has gone either as i have a todder to run around after aswell. i was thinking is there anything additional you are taking as most lists ive seen seem to go along the labour route....any ideas

Hi Suzanne - I know what you mean, the only thing I've thought of so far is to take some sterile maternity pads n some big pants (I had a c-section last time and put a pad against the incision scar, it made it all feel a bit more supported) you can get the sterile pads from mothercare. hope this helps - if I think of anything else I will post it here. My brain is just not functioning lately - got my head in the clouds!! Let me know if you think of anything. Take care xx
hi. lol know what you mean about 'big pants' my csection scar last time was covered with a dressing most of the time. weird thing is i cant remember any pain from it either, the drugs must have been really good lol have you got a date thro yet for your section, ive got a scan at 35weeks and getting date at the appointment with consultant after. gonna start buyingh stuff for my bag this weekend.
