Hi Sqad. Re my post-menopausal bleed, I had an internal scan and a camera inserted into my womb yesterday. The consultant said he couldn't see anything worrying, he detected two golf ball-sized fibroids which apparently aren't a serious problem, and the womb lining was of normal width. He did a hysteroscopy and will get the results in a couple of weeks. I can't tell you how relieved I was to hear it is almost certainly not cancer.

He said I need to go back to my GP and ask for a scan further up, as he only deals with the gynaecological area.

My pain feels like period pain, it is low in my stomach, but I also have a dull ache which goes higher up, almost up to my bust. It is on the left-hand side. Any idea at all what it might be please?

The nurse said I could take paracetamol together with Ibruprofen tablets for pain relief. Is it okay to take the maximum daily dosage of both, or should I take half the dosage of each?

Thanks very much Sqad. x

windy.....glad to hear your gynaecological bits are all intact and not causing any trouble.

The pelvic pain that goes up to the left side of your abdomen is difficult to define without physical examination etc, but diverticulosis comes to mind.

Did you mention this pain to the hospital Dr?

Thanks Sqad. I mentioned it to the consultant, is that who you mean? I didn't speak to a doctor (apart from the consultant) at the hospital. He told me he couldn't advise on what might be causing the pain as he was purely gynae, and said I need to go back to the GP for referral for a second scan to cover liver, bladder and I think he said stomach, although I thought the scan I had would have covered the stomach.

He did say the fibroids usually shrink as you get older. He didn't mention getting rid of them. I wonder if they are the cause of my lower pain, but the pain higher up is still a puzzle.
widy...OK, then go back to your GP and mention divertiulosis.

Thanks very much Sqad, much appreciated. x
Could it be your gall bladder?

If it's on the left hand side, then I guess it's possible karen. I have an appointment with the GP tomorrow, so hopefully I will find out more.

Thanks for reply. x
