Silence is golden..... or is it?

My wife thinks I am mad. Whenever I do housework of any kind, i like to have music on in the background. Also I work from home every day, and I have to have some kind of background noise going on, especially when I am on my own. Otherwise the house just seems cold, empty, lonely and not \'alive\'. On the other hand, my wife likes to do everything in total silence, and gets annoyed with me if I lend a hand with the washing up for example and turn the radio on. Or when we have guests around for dinner, i like to put some background music on (low). Who of us on here are with me or the wife?

Me too - can't stand it being too quiet, well only if I'm reading - even then, I must have music playing in the background!

I also like listening to spoken word story tapes & cd's, 'specially Alan Bennett, he cracks me up!

I'm with you - me and my partner always have music on. The only thing that really annoys me is if he's got the telly on as background noise.

Maybe it's the music you listen to that's annoying her?

i BLAST music when im cleaning lol and mostly always have it on...never silent! x

I always listen to Handel(on my IPod) when doing any housework.In fact my wife downloads new Handel recordings from the net to make sure I do.
No Music~No Housework done. LOL

Like others, I usually have tv on in the background. Very strange but I do work better if at home.

Radio is on most of the day. I also leave it on for the dogs when I go out!!

I like quiet sometimes but mostly I usually have music on. I can't bear the television being on in the background.
