Following on from the legal action being brought by the Equality and Human Rights Commission against the BNP, seeking, amongst other things, to overturn the BNPs "whites only" membership policy on the grounds of breakng the Race Relations Act.
According to BBC news, various agreements have been reached in court.
1. That BNP councillors and MPs have to represent all members of their constituency fairly and impartially, regardless of their constituents race or religion.
2. That Nick Griffin is going to call upon the BNPs membership to change their constitution to accept anyone should they so wish, regardless of their ethnic origin or religion.

The judge himself seemed somewhat perplexed as to what members of any non white ethnic group would be interested in joining the BNP. The consequences to the BNP, should they fail to change their constitution, are potentially severe - heavy fines and possibly even jail time for senior members.
And you have to laugh at the BNPs response that this decision "infringes their rights"

This should be interesting - I would love to be a fly on the wall at any of their meetings discussing this! :)

Because not only is the BNP democratically elected, it's also democratically structured.

That means the leadership is reliant on the support of party members - the very meatheads who would be appalled by this change in the rules.

Maybe they should adopt the policies of just about every institution from golf clubs to Oxbridge Uni's; Say membership is open to all but deny entry to anyone they dont like the look of without giving specific reasons.

I am sure plenty of people from the ethnic minorities would like to be given the opportunity to join the BNP!

Just because you're black or Asian, doesn't mean you aren't British...and that's what the B in BNP stands for doesn't it?

Issues that the BNP fight on are of concern to all Britons, surely? I'm sure they'd welcome any new recruits, no matter what there' racial background...as long as they're willing to stand up AS BRITISH CITIZENS to fight for the common cause.

I'm sure their membership would overwhelmingly vote in favour of the proposition. I mean, it's not like their racists or anything!
