Missing Birth record
I am trying to trace where my Great Grandfather John William Beevers born @1864 came from.He married Alice Maud Allen in 1888 in Scarborough.I was led to believe he was from Scarborough but there is no sign of anyone with that name on the 1871 census that fits the bill.Unfortunately the only census i can find him on is in 1901 in Scotland, but it only gives that he was born in England. He has 3 children born between1894
and 1900 (one of whom is my Grandmother) they were born in Scotland and it does'nt state on their birth records where he came from. The only lead is the eldest child Allan who was born in 1889 in England again it does'nt specify where, but i cannot find any mention of him anywhere in the births or deaths.John William or William as he calls himself ,his wife Alice Maud and Allan are nowhere to be found in 1891 on either the England or Scotland census.By 1911 he has died as Alice Maud is a widow.
I have found 3 Birth entries for John William Beevers b 1864.One in Goole, another in Hull and the third in the West Riding.Given that he was a trawlerman, the first two would be the most obvious, but,i traced the one in Goole and the West Riding one and they married but not to Alice Maud.As for the one from Hull there is'nt a sign of him.I have his wedding certificate and his father was William,he was also a fisherman.I've thought about it being JW's second marriage but the dates don't fit as all the JW Beevers were married around the same time.
So to round up why is'nt there a birth entry for Allan Beevers? I have done all the variations of spellings, dates without names, names without date and nothing comes up.Its nearly driving me mad!I have resigned myself to the fact that the family just were'nt at home at the time of the 1891 census.
Any pointers would much appreciated, thanks Polly

Also, have you looked for any hand written added entries in the GRO index for 1889. plus, if for any reason the family were on board a boat when Allan was born, the registration may not have iccurred until 1890.
