smell

Advice Please. My house is heated by electric night storage heaters....These have been switched off for about four or five months but now is the time to bring them into use. The problem is we switched the one on in our living room about a week ago and as it warmed up it gave off a very bad smell something like dead fish.We have tried to mask the smell with deodourisers but that is not the answere. As the days go by the smell seems to get weaker suggesting that whatever the cause is being burnt or dried out. I need to know if anyone has had this similar problem and how to put it right.cheers s.o.g.

From my experience (As an Electrician) Elvis is right, nearly. lol Something is burning out, but the smell is coming from the plastic. I had the same smell coming from the plastic lamp holder on my front room light fitting.
It could be any fitting in your living room. Check them all for the smell, and get the dodgy one changed.

Thank you all for your input. ...Elvis Itook your advice and checked out the switch connection and found it to be over heated and the plastic was burnt away and the wire connections were burnt and brittle. I have now bought a new switchbox and I hope to "crop" the mains connections ( all fuses pulled of course) and reconnect thefresh wireing Hopefully all problems ill be solved..Thanks again S.O.G
