ActiveSync, Pocket PC 2002, and Windows 7
I have an HP Jornada Pocket PC which runs with the Windows operating system \"Pocket PC 2002\". I use the Microsoft program ActiveSync to transfer files (Docs, Spreadsheets, Music, Microsoft Reader books) from my main PC to the Pocket PC.
I wish to buy a new computer running windows 7.
According to the Microsoft website, support has been dropped for Activesync connectivity with handheld computers running \"Pocket PC 2002\" under Windows 7. No alternative is suggested.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with my Jornada and I am loathe to \"upgrade\" to a different handheld just because of this arbitrary dropping of support.
Is there any alternative software I could use to transfer files, or is there a workaround so I can carry on using active sync? The files are not always just transferred. For example Excel (.xls) and Word files (.doc) are converted to their Pocket equivalents .pxl and .pwd, so some processing takes place as well as the transfer. Most files are just transferred however.
(Apparently ActiveSync MAY work in Windows 7 XP mode BUT Windows 7 XP mode has no ability at the moment to perform USB passthrough so it would not be able to detect my Pocket PC on its USB port. I don\'t want to spend extra money to get the premium editions of Windows 7 that have XP mode just to find it doesn\'t work!)
Is anyone else running Pocket PC 2002 and if so how do you intend dealing with the demise of ActiveSync?
Thanks in advanvce
