Squad can you please help me with this question? I am a care assistant in a home, and we have just had addmitted a man who has has had TB, I have looked at his records and his treatment finished in sept this year. Being as the rooms are so hot, I am a bit dubious about picking something up? and feel I should wear a mask protector while assisting. Any advice would be appreciated please. Thank you.
Eastender........I presume that you mean PTB (Pulmonary Tuberculosis).........lung disease.
By treatment I presume you mean anti tuberculous chemotherapy.
If treatment has been finished and he is allowed out into the community, then his sputum will be negative for TB and hence he will not be infectious and no danger to you or the community. The wearing of a mask is unnecessary both for your or him.
