Electronic Dictionary Review

I have an electronic dictionary Sharp PW-E500A which I use for crosswords. Its quite good but it's very heavy on batteries I found that it required a new battery AAA after little actual use. It lasted for about 3 crosswords. However I discovered that if I kept the old battery for a week I could put it back in and get another 3 crosswords out of it and I have been able to reuse the same battery at least 4 times. In fact I'm still using the same pack of 8 batteries for the past year. It would appear the dictionary requires peak voltage to work at all times but if the battery has time to recover it can be reused. To preserve the battery in use I always switch off as soon as I've found the word I want but I notice the on/off button is becoming more and more difficult to use and I have now had to buy another electronic dictionary a Seiko which has two batteries and larger keys. Time will tell if it is an improvement. Has anyone had the same sort of problems ?
