Coil fitted: problems with bleeding - advice please
4 Answers
Would welcome your advice Ladies.... and dont read on if you are easily grossed out!
Please can someone help. I have come off the pill (been on it for years) and wanted something non-hormonal so went for the copper coil (not Mirena). Not had children and the fitting was incredibly painful. Followed by 2 weeks so far of bleeding and cramping. Got sent for an internal ultrasound (just as I had stopped bleeding) and this has started the bleeding again! Scan showed it was all fine though.
Am now entering my fourth week and still bleeding quite a bit.
I regularly have quite large clots/lumps too come out! (sorry gross I know!!!!)
Part of me wonders if I should wait to see if it settles - my Doctor did say the fitting did cause some 'trauma' as it was inserted (I had to have THREE injections before it would go in!!!!) AGONY!!!
Should I wait to see if it all calms down... and for how long do I wait??????? Sometimes I feel a bit dizzy or nauseous and wonder if this is from the blood loss....

sounds horribly familiar. i never really got used to the pain and gave up in the end i gave up and had it out (convinced my insides would come out with it but they didnt). im sure they scraped or scratched my ovary when they fitted it and even a year later i get the exact same pain, in the exact same spot at various times thru the month. ive had subsequent ultrasounds and they have found nothing untoward, but i just dont believe it didnt damage me on the way in.... ;o(
