Hi

When I was in my mid-late 20’s I used to live in Paris and unfortunately started smoking French cigarettes heavily (about 30-40 a day). This as a result has left me with stained teeth. Not dreadful, but also not pearly white!

Now I’m in my early 30’s and have been off the fags for 2 years now. Only problem is I want to get my teeth whiter. Asked the dentist about it, and he wanted a small fortune. So I decided to try other methods. Tried most of the regular tooth pastes out there like Pearl Drops etc. and although they have worked a little, the results are not fantastic. So I just wondered if anyone has any other methods or things they have heard of (the cheaper the better, as were all skint at this time of year!) Or should I just save up to have them whitened?

Thanks

Don't be taken in by the so called celebrities 'california white' teeth, this is not the natural colour for most people, they nearly all have their teeth bleached. Teeth are naturally ivory coloured and like ivory can range from very white to nearly yellow. Bleaching will make your teeth more sensitive. If you insist on having them bleached be sure to go to a reputable dentist and don't try to diy on the cheap.
But, it's a shame if you get sucked into the current trend of looking like a plastic doll instead of a real person.
Crest Whitestrips are amazing!! And pretty cheap, especially if you buy them on ebay! They don't harm your teeth either or make them sensitive and they really do the trick!
The better the toothbrush, the better the effect on your teeth. At the moment these are all quite cheap for christmas and will get even cheaper in the new year. My friend has the toothbrush with the blue tooth screen thing (featured on the gadget show) and she swears by it as she has not missed any sections.

She also uses the natural toothpaste which smells and tastes disgusting. It's a pink one which doesn't use floride so it's better for your teeth overall (once you get over the taste).
I'm sure i've posted this before on similar questions but the crest whitestrips made my teeth agonisingly sensitive! I could feel it after using them only once, and I don't usually have sensitive teeth!

In product tests, the best one has been the Boots Expert Tooth Whitening system, I'd go for it!
