Lump near a male cat's nipple
Last week, I noticed a small lump almost on the nipple of one of our neutered male cats. I thought it might be an abcess. Last night I had another look and the lump has doubled in size and its obviously quite painful if you touch it (his reaction told me that!). You can move it about above the skin surface but it is quite a hard lump. Otherwise the cat is fine and dandy and acting quite normally.
We can't take him to the vets until tomorrow, but in the meantime can anyone suggest anything it is likely to be? I am hoping that it is nothing serious because my OH really can't take anymore hits at the moment!!!!!

Cancerous growths are not usually painful in themselves (that's why they so often get missed or ignored ) but you must take him in.Chances are it's some kind of infection in the tissue and its that which is making it painful. The lump may be a result of infection resulting in a swelling around the site of infection, or a simple cyst.
