I 've put this in the business section but I thought I would like Chatter Bank comments.
Is Nat/West trying to recoup its losses by ripping off its customers ?
I have had business and personal accounts with them for over 50 years and have never been in the red .In fact I run a credit balance of several thousands pounds You would think they would value such a customer but this month , without an explanation , they have charged me £25 for SAFE CUSTODY HOLD. I rang them up and it appears they are charging for looking after an envelope that I left with them about 30 years ago . Which at that time was a free service for current account holders. I removed it a few years later and have never used the service since . I shall of course close all my accounts with them.

Just complain.

Changing banks won't make any difference, the others are no better.

I think you are right the big banks are all about the same but some of the ex-building society banks do offer better rates on the current accounts.
