Underage drinking
19 Answers
My 16 year old daughter told me this afternoon that herself and her friends wanted to do something different before going back to school on Thursday. They were going out to dinner. Just a while ago she said they all want to go to a pub and have a few drinks instead. She knows she is not allowed and would prefer to go for a meal. She is allowed some drink at home or in friends houses as long as we know and the other parents know. It seems the other parents dont mind their kids going to the pub for a few drinks. Do they not know that the kids could be arrested for under age drinking and the police in this area come down very heavy on this. I am just having a rant - I have no problem with a few drinks but in someones house not where they could get arrested and end up in regular meetings with a J.O.

When my daughter was 15, I caught her going into a pub- she didn't see me, i was driving past. Anyhoo, I marched into the pub, dragged her to the bar, informed the staff (very loudly) how old she was and also grassed on her friends.
It took her quite a while to show her face in the town pubs after that, I embarrassed the hell out of her.

Maybe, as I said, they know that they cannot do much about it, and as teleph0ne says the more you ban someone, the more likely they are to do it.
Plus, how do you know that their parents allow it? Maybe your daughter is telling you this to convince you to let her go?
I was clubbing and drinking from when I was 16, I'm only 19 now, and I do it even less. I don't feel the need to get drunk.
