Post Op analgesia and possible pregnancy!

Yesterday, I had a small op to drain an abscess in my groin. The wound has been left open and is packed internally to stop it closing over too quickly. My problem is that my pain is not well controlled at the moment. I have only been taking paracetamol because there is a chance I may be pregnant (but it is too early to tell for sure). I know that most other painkillers are not recommended during pregnancy which is why I haven't taken anything else. I have a drawer full of diclofenac, co codamol (8/500 and 30/500) dihydrocodeine and Tramadol and am desperate to take something stronger but am reticent to in case I do some damage.

Thing is, I might not even be pregnant so I could be suffering unneccessarily. Can anyone offer any advice? I can't get an appointment with my GP today and I can't ask the hospital where the op was done because I work in the area where my op was done and I don't want my colleagues knowing about thjis issue.

Relief of severe pain against the outside chance of foetal damage.........that is the decision that you must make as all the drugs that you have mentioned except Paracetamol, MAY damage the foetus.

My opinion? I would go for the pain relief.

Thanks Sqad! I know you are right, it's just hard to take the plunge just in case! Think I might try the co codamol as from what I've read, this is probable okay-ish to take.

dont take co-codamol at the same time as paracetamol though.
NSAID (diclofenac etc) has been shown to be a small risk in having an early miscarriage as far as i can remeber. You could always take a pg test and if it's negative take whatever you want

I think the PG test would be negative anyway because it's too early to test!
