Any tips on keeping whites "white".

Ive recently bought a white jumper and white underwear - the items have only been washed 3-4 times and I feel they are starting to look grey already. I tend to hot wash my whites - could this be a problem

i only use 30-40 degrees for all my laundry these days, no problem with whites changing colour. I use a non-bio powder.
I thought this was another rascist post! :)
I always use one scoop of "Oxymax" stain remover with my normal washing powder for whites at a 95 degrees and my whites look great!
I think it really helps if you only wash whites with whites and wash them frequently.
I wash mine at 60 and often put in a scoop of Vanish or other stain-removing powders. (Don't find the Crystal White powder any better than the regular.)
Used to use ACDO whitening sachets, but haven't seen them around for some time now.
Good luck with them.
Hot water sets stains and grime. Always best to wash at low temperatures if clothes have marks, etc.

I no longer put towels, flannels on a boil wash.. I wash at 40 with sterilising tablets to kill germs.

Sorry! It's just that the header can be taken a couple of ways.

Many thanks for your replies - Ive only been in the bath and back!!

Sorry for any mis-reading of the title - not a racist at all.

Will try the stain remover stuff along with powder
Tgm oxymax Is a godsend try it and you wont look back!
I can honestly say my whites always look white, even old stuff, and it's because I only wash whites with whites!! Easy, no need for any special powders!
No idea.

My cleaning lady empties my magic clothes bin, and everything reappears, clean and ironed, in my magic clothes drawers.

It's all a mystery.

I only wash whites with whites anyway - still happens!
I do a separate whites wash, 40 degrees, and use Dr. Beckmann GloWhite (used to be called Acdo). It's like a big teabag full of some kind of bleach powder - stuff comes out dazzling. I buy it in Morrisons or Tescos.
Are you using Bio detergent?
Don't wear underwear, that's half the problem solved....
