My 2 girls are getting their swine flu injections on Monday in school. They are nervous. I know it has been talked to death over the last few months but I just would like to know what - if anything - to expect after. They are 12 and 16 - neither have any underlying medical problems except the 12 year old is alergic to a few thing on her skin. Thanks in advance.

peri.. not my area of expertise (if anything is, anyway!) but why are they getting swine flu jabs? I didn't think they fell within the guidelines (6mths - 5 yrs) and the old dearies!

we just got a note from the school during the week sara that they are being done on Monday - I dont know if its all schools are just ours !
Question Author
'or' just ours
Why do they need them?

Anyway, as far as I'm aware, the only group of people who may experience side effects are pregnant women, which I trust does not apply in this case...
I was offered the jab.
Question Author
Im no expert about it but I would think secondary schools are one of the worst places for spreading infections. Maybe different countries have different availability to the jab - I really dont know
peri...I agree with all the posters. If they were my daughters, I would not have them immunised.

I have just thought....if they were my daughters, you would be my wife..........!!!!
Question Author
oh god - I may have to go lie down !!!!!!!
they haven't offered anything at my kids' school. I'm sure it's the usual flu jab effects.. mild flu symptoms and possibly a tender bit where the jab was done.

have paracetemol handy!
peri.....well before you do ....throw those bl00dy leggings away.
Question Author
seriously though - sqad why not? and if everyone else has it would it not make them more susceptible -
Question Author
sara - they have been told they are going back to school after but not PE as their arm could be sore and they should not risk knocking it - now bear in mind I am hearing this from the girls !
Why would you not let your daughters have the jab sqad?Sorry, too nosey for my own good
lol, I doubt it's a PE try-on.. you won't need to write a note if they're all having it!
peri...it is a personal thing.......I see very little benefit, as the second wave of HINI hasn't materialised.

I am still not convinced of absence of side affects of the vaccine.
