Drugs - what are your opinions?
28 Answers
In some form of media outlets the negative effects of drugs are explained almost everyday. Therefore I’m assuming that everyone have some knowledge of how harmful drugs can be. Yet, people still continue to use it, and some become addicted. When those addicts decide to quit they get loads of cheers and commiserations.
Why do you think those who’ve quitted should be congratulated when they’ve been warned about the dangers of drugs and its overuse? (I’m not referring to medications.) Personally I don't give a hoot

Common sense often takes a back seat because addictions pretty much rule the brain. People are convinced they can't do without their habit, and don't forget that withdrawal affects not only the mind, but the body too, so it's by no means easy for them to give it up.

Hi society and naomi. I smoke tobacco so i suppose that is an addiction. I found it quite easy to stop. The TV ads say the first week is the worse, for me this was not true. The longer I went without a fag the worse i became. I spoke to my doctor about this and he said hang in there. Well I did for over a year. I gave up giving up in the end. I don't smoke that many but I and my family are all much happier.
For one thing those that become addicted to drugs ar normally in their teens and there arent many teenagers that listen to their elders and not keen on taking advice and usually they have other problems, sometimes family issues. Those of us who havent been there cant judge. I think anyone that can give up an addiction of any kind should be congratulated, because it takes great will power and strength of character.
People are warned everyday about speeding and recently of walking on iced lakes but adults still continue to kill themselves or others by doing these things!
Dont judge until you have walked in their shoes, I think the saying goes.......

My opinion is that 'addicts' or anyone else who has fallen by the wayside because of drug abuse shouldn't be condemned or congratulated. It's just misadventure IMO
Personally, I do the odd bit of ch*rlie (seasonally) and I think sp*ed can be very useful at times, and I drink most nights. My attitude: use substances -but don't let them use you.
Oh and I believe ALL drugs should be legalised -so put that in your bong and toke it !
(LOL Joggerjane -I put that joke on a Youtube clip once and some cretin took it seriously).

JJ's comment reminds me of that ageing pop star in 'Love Actually'. 'Kids - don't buy drugs - become a pop star and people give them to you' - or something like that. :o)
Society, I think when people start to take an addictive substance, they never believe they will become addicted. They are going to be the one who can handle it - but they never are.

Tambo,
Do you seriously think that any drug dealer would give away free drugs to anyone for long enough for them to become addicted to anything on the off chance that they would then buy enough from them to recoup the cost of giving away stuff for free?
You clearly have no understanding of the drug scene at all and have based your views on it on what you read in the papers.
(and yes I was very heavily involved in the drug scene when I was younger, I've not touched anything for years but can assure you that the scare stories you've read are simply not true)
