Multiple night time loo use mystery

One of my housemates -almost every night- emerges from his room to use the loo 5-8 times in a row at roughly 5 minute intervals at around 2am -it wakes me up sometimes.
It seems too personal a question to ask him why he does this.

Any ideas?

Prostrate troubles.

I go to the loo several times during the night - but I drink loads during the day.

How old is your housemate?
It could be many things causing his frequent visits to the loo, the first one that comes to mind is cystitis, it could also be alcohol consumption too close to bed time.
Another (unusual) cause of frequent urination is drug use, when certain drugs start to 'wear off' you get the urge too wee very frequently, the two main drugs that cause this are amphetamine and ecstasy.

Not enough information to even hazard a guess.

How old is he? Any burning or stinging when he passes his water? Any discharge from his penis. Is he taking any medication?

Mustardmit, I see you posted when he woke you up! How about just happening to "need" to go to loo when he does i.e. appearing at door and then casually making a comment, sort of jokey, about his frequent visits. You might as well, seeing you've been woken up anyway!

Advise him to see his GP for a rectal examination, sounds like prostrate gland anlargement to me.

It's not prostrate - it's PROSTATE (i.e. the word, not necessarily the problem!)

Thanks lucca, I feel a right fool because I`m always correcting people that use prostrate instead of prostate seeing that I have `Prostate` cancer myself.

Surely if it was bulimia though he'd hear him attempting to vomit. I'm not saying that it's not but it sounds far fetched for someone with bulimia trying to throw up at 2am - unless he eats at that time.

It is unlikely to be an enlarged prostate unless the housemate is middle aged or older.

How long does he spend in the toilet? could it be constipation...?

Perhaps he does extra big jobbies that take several flushes, and he does it whilst everyone else is asleep because he is embarrassed.
