It sounds as though you have a form of athlete's foot. Do you do a job that means you are on your feet for a lot of the day or have your feet been over used a lot recently? I had this once before when I had a short spell as a hotel manager and was on my feet for sometimes 10 - 12 hours at a time. It went on it's own, but only after I had quit the job!!! You can get a number of creams to help get rid of this from your pharmacist.
The type of fungal infection which causes the holes is called Moccasin or Plantar Athletes Foot to be more specific.
Keep your feet as clean and dry as possible and try to avoid wearing socks with holes in them. Hope this helps?
Sproutstick
It certainly sounds like what Sproutstick says. Just to add to his and other's advice, wear clean socks every day (go out and buy a whole lot new and chuck the old ones away), and if you have to take them off and then put them back on during the day make sure they end up on the same feet so the fungus does not spread to the other foot.
Daktarin cream or spray is very good, but you have to keep up the treatment for at least a week after the obvious symptoms subside. If you get the spray an occasional squirt inside the shoes can help as well. Steer clear of the gym, swimming pool and sauna during the treatment time, broken and wet skin is so easily re-infected.
